Oslo, Norway — Elliptic Labs (OSE: ELABS) has signed a new license agreement with an existing Top-5 global smartphone manufacturer, covering a minimum of five smartphone models scheduled to be launched in 2026.
The agreement extends the manufacturer’s use of Elliptic Labs’ AI Virtual Proximity Sensor™ INNER BEAUTY® — a software-only sensor that replaces legacy proximity sensing hardware components. The solution delivers reliable proximity detection while lowering hardware complexity and supporting more sustainable devices, giving OEMs greater design freedom and a flexible software foundation for continued innovation.
As smartphones evolve, intelligence is increasingly moving into the embedded software layer — turning sensing into a continuously running capability that adapts in real time to real-world conditions. AI Virtual Smart Sensors are a practical example: they deliver high-performance sensing through efficient embedded software, replacing legacy hardware while enabling new levels of scalability, product flexibility, and differentiated device design — and providing a foundation for further innovation without additional hardware complexity.
“This agreement shows that our customers continue to choose Elliptic Labs as they scale AI-based sensing across new smartphone launches,” said Ola Sandstad, CEO of Elliptic Labs. “AI in devices must work consistently across environments and usage scenarios. Our AI Virtual Smart Sensor Platform™ is proven at scale and helps OEMs build better, more streamlined smartphones generation after generation.”
The agreement includes a guaranteed minimum license fee per model.
